lyrics

I must confess that I am obsessed with
The smell of this forest
As the leaves trickle down every raindrop compounding
The beautiful chorus

And I'm wondering now, did I live before this?
And I'm wondering how did I never notice?

The glory of God is that I still cannot build
A better creation
Nor compose here a song that could rise up as strong as
The trees’ invocation

And I'm wondering now, did I live before this?
And I'm wondering how did I never notice?

Stirring in me is the dust of a billion galaxies
(Why do you feel so alone, why do you feel alone?)
And every breath is a birth and a death intertwined
(Everything has a start and an end, don’t you know?)
And still every layer that dies gives up life for the one beneath
(Everything has a time and a place, can’t you see?)
True for the forest, the flesh on my bones, and for all humankind

Giants of earth, crane your necks to look down on
The drama unfolding
Day turns to night every night yet tonight has been
Never before seen

And I'm wondering now, did I live before this?
And I'm wondering how did I never notice?
