¶ (Pilcrow) 03:53
I’ve been thinking about paragraphs All that prose so well-contained And when I do it almost makes me laugh Move the pilcrow down the page I need room to set the stage I’m out here ringing like a doorbell chime You pretend to know my name Am I a friend from some forgotten time I never learned quite how to say All I want in one refrain I should try to be more organized And make my thesis clearly framed The word prolific isn’t always kind Move the pilcrow down the page I need room to set the stage I still remember when I crossed that line I didn’t see till much too late I play it over endless in my mind I never learned quite how to say All I want in one refrain If you must leave me, leave me speechless If you must let me down let me decide from how high If we can change our minds why not make some improvements? Or have we really never tried? I spilled over like a dark red wine And hoped I'd leave you with a stain But you replaced the carpet in no time I never learned quite how to say All I want

Hello Again 02:33
Finally caught you slipping out behind a cloud Is it really over? Can I shed this coat? Am I allowed? Feels like summer all at once has pierced my skin I’ll admit I never quite knew when the new world would begin But here you are My glowing friend Hello again Everything’s a little brighter when you’re there Couldn’t wait another minute, guess the truth is I was scared I can only take the shadows for so long It’s an easy place to hide, but it was not where I belong And here you are My glowing friend Hello again I feel you rise I feel you rise I feel you rise Without warning, like the morning, you took me by surprise And here you are My glowing friend Hello again

I buried my secret Underground She carries and keeps it Holds it down Into formation Growing round Vivid creation Rustling sound Every step we’ve taken Choice we’ve made has brought you closer to seeing the sun Embrace this day, retain this grace And till the time when your journey is done Fill this place So many lyrics Grand refrains Now take a backseat to Simpler strains All of this longing Manifest Hardly a chance to Catch my breath Every step we’ve taken Choice we’ve made has brought you closer to seeing the sun Embrace this day, retain this grace And till the time when your journey is done Fill this place

about

Pilcrow, and other short stories, is/will be a collection of songs written anytime in the last twelve years. Out of necessity (my decade-old computer is degrading audio almost as quickly as I can record it), I'm going to keep the editing on these songs to a minimum. I'll release the songs as I record them until I have an album's worth. I can't promise it will be pretty, but it will be honest.
